Q&A - Pedometers
Does it matter where the pedometer is placed or attached?
The HJ-150 and 151 Pedometer must be positioned correctly. Attach the unit to your belt or to the top of your waistband. The unit must be horizontal to the ground in order for the unit to function correctly. The HJ-112 and HJ-720ITC Pocket Pedometer can also be placed in your pocket or purse.
What's the accuracy rate of Omron Pedometers?
The precision of the step counting is within +/- 5%.
What are moderate steps?
At least 30 minutes of moderate exercise is recommended each day. The HJ-151 Pedometer separately displays the steps and minutes walked at a moderate pace.
What are aerobic steps?
The HJ-112 and HJ-720ITC Pocket Pedometer separately displays aerobic steps and minutes that start counting after 10 minutes of continuous walking with more than 60 steps a minute.
How does the PC software work?
The HJ-720ITC Pocket Pedometer includes PC software for Windows 2000 or XP. It keeps track of daily, weekly, monthly and yearly progress.

I purchased two of these pedometers, for my wife and I. I really like that I can connect this to the computer and chart out the results of my walking. I also purchased the Omron blood pressure monitor that syncs up its information with this pedometer. By itself the pedometer is excellent. With the blood pressure monitor, I feel that I am seeing the results of the walking that I am doing. One cool thing that this pedometer does is show the amount of steps that a person walks between specific hours of the day. I can then break it down as to which walk at break time from work achieved additional aerobic steps. It also stores several days worth of data between uploads to the computer. Additionally, my wife stats and mine work with the same Omron software install. Nice!
One thing that definately needs to be improved is the clip. The clip is useless and cost me. I had to by another pedometer after losing the first from not holding onto my belt. I will not use the clip, and I simply now put pedometer in my pocket. True, they include an additionaly string with clip to hold onto the until. However, I still lost the first unit as a cost of $33.00.
Had the clip been better designed and not cost me, this pedometer would have gotten 5 stars. See Full Customer Review |
